Q&A with Agent-cy President, Jasmine Sandler

As summer is starting to wind down, and people are wrapping up family vacations and getting one last weekend away before Labor Day, I hope each of you has had some time to unwind and re-energize before getting back into the game. Have you also been thinking of how you can improve the SEM (Search Engine Marketing) for your website?  Are you ready to get ramped up and at the top of each search to get noticed?

If so,  this Q&A will help you learn more about SEM and how to improve your marketing presence online.  Let me introduce Jasmine Sandler, President of Agent-cy, experts in online marketing strategy and management.  We asked Jasmine some commonly asked questions about Search Engine Marketing, and we hope  her insight and expertise will help you and your company.

Here we go….

  1. How long have you been working in online marketing services?
I started in 1994, selling web design services to local retailers in Miami. I did that for a period of three years. In that time, I solutioned logos, web pages and web copy.  I then was in a director-position at IBM professional services for 7 years, after which I went back to interactive, and again solutioned web design services and Search Marketing for mid-sized companies in Manhattan. At that time, I also started, developed and sold a social network. Post that, I started my own Online Marketing and PR agency, Agent-cy, in the Spring of 2006. I am running Agent-cy today.
  2. What are the main types of projects that you’ve had over the past year?
Online Marketing Strategy and Planning, SEO and PPC (Pay Per Click) Management, Usability and Design, Social Media Management and Online PR.
  3. Many of our readers are interested in Search Engine Marketing (SEM).  In your own words, what exactly is it?
Search Engine Marketing consists of a balance between optimized paid search campaign management and effective organic search.  Search Marketing effectiveness is the result of  intelligent online brand analysis, keyword development, campaign management and appropriate and ongoing link-building work.  Further, social media commenting and sharing now, and more heavily in the future, will play a significant role in how well a website or webpage is found based on relevancy of keywords in the Search Engines, including Google, BING, Yahoo! And ASK.
  4. What various types of strategies do you use to improve SEM for your clients?
Online brand development and positioning in Search, content development and optimization (both on and off site), relevant, quality and consistent link building, and social media management for SEO (Search Engine Optimization – see an earlier Ani Marketing Service blog) effectiveness.
  5. How do you go about using key word analysis when trying to improve SEM?
The keyword analysis is meant to deliver for the client both a short term and long term success plan in SEARCH.
  6. When you first work with a client, how do you kick-off the SEM process?
We determine the business strategies and marketing goals first. Once we have a good understanding of the client’s business, we are then in a position to review competitive efforts in SEARCH, and from there, assess keyword groups relative to brand, product, service and market position.
  7. What are three basics people need to know when trying to improve SEM?
Have a balanced approach with Paid Search and SEO, especially if you are selling online.

When it comes to visibility with organic search, know that it takes time, and it is not worth it to work with anyone or any company that doesn’t have a proven track record.

When looking to improve SEM, first define any specific business and marketing issues, then assess how you are solving them today, and finally decide how SEM may complement those efforts.

  8. How do you know you’ve been successful in improving a client’s SEM rankings? Is it a one-time process? How do you help your client stay on top and keep rankings high?
It is an ongoing process. Especially in saturated marketplaces, sometimes full optimization can take up to 12 months. We have a structured process of working with clients on a bi-weekly basis to reveal success as well as to check-in on any business changes on their end.
  9. Which part of your job do you enjoy the most and why?
Providing sound strategy to businesses that helps them either to develop their online brand and audience or to improve their online effectiveness.
  10. When people talk about Agent-cy and its services, what is the best compliment they could give you?
That we truly care about their business and have given 100% effort and guidance in improving their marketing efforts from an online perspective.

We hope you have enjoyed hearing from Jasmine and learning about her experience with online marketing. If you would like to know more about her company, Agent-cy, check out their website.
