Hugging Grandma

The other day I walked by a park and saw a mother holding her seemingly-happy 5-year old’s hand.  The daughter suddenly pulled away from her mum and started running.  The mum looked shocked and was ready to yell at her daughter, until she looked up:  her daughter was actually running towards her grandmother for a warm welcome hug!  Such different perspectives, and such a good reminder for us.

Often we think of the world revolving around us.  In fact, these days the world appears to be running away from us, and all we want is for it to start running towards us again.  That may not ever happen, though.  So sometimes it is wiser to acknowledge the changing business climate, determine unfulfilled needs, and then figure out how your experiences, skills, and business culture can close these gaps.

For me, I’m building business development into my marketing practice, which helps my clients better qualify prospects, accelerating their sales/donation cycles.  It’s good for me, and it’s good for my clients.

If you want an additional perspective on how to reposition yourself or your company in today’s environment, please feel free to run in my direction!

 All my best, Aruna

“There are two big forces at work, external and internal. We have very little control over external forces such as tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, disasters, illness and pain. What really matters is the internal  force. How do I respond to those disasters? Over that I have complete control.”
