Image may not be everything- but it's a great start!

I was rushing the other day – trying to get my errands done on a Saturday – and I thought I could just run them without being seen by anyone I knew. Little did I know that I would be running into the ‘Who’s Who’ of Aruna’s world! I can only guess what they thought of me. I had just left the gym – so I was in my sweats without makeup – ugh! I will now have to work a lot harder at making a good impression.

The same principle follows with your business. It is so important to brand your business to create an image or impression in people’s minds. Everything connected to your business should be part of that brand; anything that represents you – even your email signature – should reflect your brand. Most people need to see or hear something 4-6 times before they actually absorb the message, so this branding repetition and consistency becomes crucial to people remembering you!

The truth is that if you are to be perceived as professional and contemporary, your “image” is far-reaching. A basic website is vital in our day and age, even if it’s just for credibility. That website should reinforce your brand and be consistent with the look-and-feel of your emails, marketing collateral, stationery, business cards, etc.

So devise or refresh your ‘look’ and make sure you infuse it into all aspects of your marketing. And don’t forget, if you’re in a hurry when running errands, at least throw on a pair of sunglasses to keep you looking pulled together!

All the best,

“The image is more than an idea. It is a vortex or cluster of fused ideas and is endowed with energy.”

 Ezra Pound
